‘Outcome’ is Jonah Hill’s first movie as a director since he made the 2022 documentary ‘Stutz’; the new movie releases on Apple TV April 10
Keanu Reeves plays a lifelong Hollywood star facing an extortion attempt in Jonah Hill’s new movie.
On Tuesday, March 17, Apple TV released the trailer for Outcome, which Hill, 42, and Reeves, 61, costar in with Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer. The dark comedy follows Reeves as an actor named Reef Hawk, who is recovering from struggles with addiction when he discovers an extortion plot against him revolving around a mysterious video that may feature details he does not want to come to light.
“With the support of his lifelong besties Kyle (Diaz) and Xander (Bomer), along with his crisis lawyer Ira (Hill), Reef embarks on a soul-searching journey to make amends with anyone he could have possibly wronged in hopes of identifying the blackmailer,” reads an official synopsis for the movie.
The movie also boasts a star-studded supporting cast that includes legendary director Martin Scorsese, daytime television star Susan Lucci, Laverne Cox, David Spade, Roy Wood Jr., Kaia Gerber, Ivy Wolk, Welker White and Atsuko Okatsuka. Hill, Diaz, Reeves and Bomer were all photographed at work on the movie’s set in Los Angeles in May 2024.

Outcome is Hill’s third movie as a director after his 2018 debut Mid90s and 2022’s documentary Stutz. The new movie first attracted attention when Apple TV released images from the film in February that showed Hill sporting a shaved head and silver beard.
Hill last appeared onscreen as an actor in the 2023 movie You People. At a Feb. 2 press day for Outcome, Hill told reporters that his film is “a metaphor for what we all go through living on social media,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Social media has made us obsessed what people we don’t know think of us, instead of caring about what the people who know us best think of us,” he said.

Diaz also told Extra on Feb. 2 that the movie is “an interesting commentary about celebrity and how it functions in our society and what’s expected.”
