Sharon Osbourne has opened up about Ozzy Osbourne’s emotional farewell concert, revealing that six doctors warned against the performance because they feared it could cost the rock legend his life.
In a moving interview with Rolling Stone, Sharon reflected on her husband’s final performance at Back to the Beginning, more than a year after the event. Her comments come ahead of the worldwide cinema release of the concert film on October 28.
Ozzy refused to give up his final performance
According to Sharon, doctors advised the family not to go ahead with the show, warning that the physical demands could be fatal for Ozzy, whose health had deteriorated in his final years.
But the Black Sabbath frontman was determined to perform.
“They advised us not to do the show. They said it would kill him,” Sharon recalled. She said Ozzy made his wishes clear to the family, insisting that the concert was what he wanted.
Sharon also remembered his reasoning: “Another six months, what’s it going to do for me?”
For Ozzy, the opportunity to perform one last time was worth the risk. Despite the doctors’ warnings, the family ultimately honored his decision.

Sharon calls the farewell a beautiful triumph
Although watching the concert film was “very hard” for Sharon, she described the event as both bittersweet and extraordinary.
She praised everyone who contributed to the show, expressing gratitude for the time, effort and generosity that went into making the occasion possible.
Ozzy was deeply emotional during the performance, Sharon recalled, but she also saw the concert as a fitting ending for a musician who had spent his life onstage.
“I say he went out like a Viking,” she said, describing how he departed on his own terms.
For Sharon, the farewell was not simply a sad goodbye. It was a celebration surrounded by friends, family and fans who loved Ozzy and his music.
She also reflected on the rare opportunity to choose how to spend one’s remaining time, viewing his final performance as a triumph rather than a tragedy.
“He ain’t left me for a minute”

Despite the passage of time, Sharon said she still feels Ozzy’s presence in her everyday life.
Asked whether she felt close to him while watching the film, she replied, “He ain’t left me for a minute.”
She explained that she continues to sleep in his T-shirts and wake up wearing his glasses, keeping reminders of her husband close.
Sharon acknowledged that losing the love of her life has been painful, but she also expressed gratitude for the years they shared.
“I was blessed to have him in my life,” she said, reflecting on the reality that nothing lasts forever.
The Back to the Beginning concert film, featuring Ozzy and Black Sabbath, opens in cinemas worldwide on October 28.
