A special musical moment brought two generations of alternative rock together when Avril Lavigne welcomed YUNGBLUD to perform her beloved 2002 ballad I’m With You during the one-year anniversary of The Yungblud Show.
Introduced by YUNGBLUD as the “emo queen,” Avril joined him for a stripped-back rendition of the song, with the British rocker accompanying her on guitar. The softer arrangement gave the emotional classic a fresh feel while keeping the vulnerability that made the original such a memorable part of her debut album, Let Go.
For YUNGBLUD, the collaboration was clearly a dream come true. He could barely contain his excitement while introducing Avril, openly admitting how unbelievable it felt to share the moment with an artist he admired.

The performance was part of a special benefit livestream celebrating the show’s first anniversary, which also featured appearances from Machine Gun Kelly, Tommy Lee and Dave Navarro. The event supported independent music venues through a partnership with the National Independent Venue Association.
After the duet, YUNGBLUD took to social media to express his gratitude, describing it as one of the best days of his life and praising Avril as a rock ‘n’ roll star.
More than two decades after its original release, I’m With You remains one of Avril’s most recognisable emotional songs. Hearing the Canadian singer revisit it alongside YUNGBLUD made the performance feel like a meeting of two eras of alternative music — and a reminder of the lasting power of a truly heartfelt song.
